Chris Pearson holds a 4th Dan Master Grade in WTF Tae Kwon Do. Chris began his training more than 17 years ago. He obtained his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1996.
Chris has been involved in the teaching of Tae Kwon Do for more than 9 years and in addition has also been employed by Greenwich Community Colleague over a 3 year period as an instructor for women’s self defence classes

The instructors a Phoenix Tae Kwon Do stress the importance of a good balance between sporting and academic activity amongst their younger students. Chris himself holds a 1st Class Honours Degree in Astrophysics and a PhD in Cosmology from Imperial College, University of London. For a living Chris is an Astrophysicist and is currently working for the Japanese Space Agency on the design and simulation of Space Telescopes, the next of which will be launched into space in 2005 !

Aside from Tae Kwon Do, Chris has had experience in many other forms of Martial Arts notably Aikido, Kung Fu, Wing Chung, Karate and Kali.

Russell Pearson is currently 3rd Dan Black Belt at Tae Kwon Do and has trained since 1985. Russell began the Phoenix Tae Kwon Do School with brother Chris when he obtained his 2nd Dan Black Belt in 1993.

With over 17 years of Tae Kwon Do experience, Russell has also achieved success as a national and international Referee. In fact Russell holds the accolade of the only person to have achieved a 100% perfect pass rate in the referees instruction course!
Russell has also achieved notable academic success receiving a 1st Class Honours Degree from the University of London in Statistics and Mathematics as well as a Ph.D. in Statistical Cosmology. Russell currently works in the city as a Risk Analyst.
Russell also has various experience in other martial arts which he uses to supplement his vast experience with Tae Kwon Do.
